As chair of the Technology, Media & Entertainment Group, Barry represents start-up, growth, and mature companies, along with related private and public financing sources, on corporate and business structuring. He provides expert advice on public and private financings, the protection and commercialization of intellectual property, licensing and distribution arrangements, strategic alliances, partnerships, and joint ventures.

Barry also guides clients through IPOs and stock exchange listings, mergers and acquisitions, and restructurings. He regularly advises boards, directors, and management teams on governance, director protection, and risk management matters. With his extensive experience as a director, Barry has chaired boards and various board committees for public, private, non-profit, regulatory, and governmental companies.

Currently, Barry serves on the boards of Baylin Wireless Technologies (Lead Director), Think Research (Chair Corporate Governance), StarTech.com (Advisory Council), and RIMES Technologies. Formerly a law professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, Barry has extensively written on contracts, corporate governance, advisory boards, and joint ventures. He is one of the lead authors of Directors’ Duties in Canada, 7th Edition (LexisNexis 2021).
