Brendan Bowles, an esteemed partner at Glaholt Bowles LLP, has been recognized for his excellence in infrastructure and construction law, winning the prestigious OBA’s 2021 award. With years of dedicated service, he represents diverse clients in the construction sector, including subcontractors, general contractors, owners, design professionals, sureties, and insurers.
As a seasoned lead counsel, Mr. Bowles brings extensive experience in arbitration, mediation, and litigation of construction disputes. A proud alumnus of Queen’s University, he attained his BA in 1995 and LLB in 1998, joining the Ontario Bar in 2000. His expertise is further validated by his 2004 designation as an associate in Canadian Surety Bonding by the Surety Association of Canada, and his 2011 certification as a Specialist in Construction Law by the LSO.
In 2021 and 2022, Brendan expanded his skill set with certificates in Mediation and Conflict Management and in Negotiation and Leadership from Harvard Law School. He has contributed significantly as a volunteer for the Construction and Infrastructure Law Section of the OBA between 2002 to 2017, holding the position of Chair in 2015–2016.
A former lecturer in construction law at Toronto Metropolitan University and George Brown College, Mr. Bowles has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law. Currently, he leads as Chair of The Advocates’ Society Arbitration and Mediation Practice Group.
