Jacqueline (Jay) Armstrong Gates serves as a partner at Gowling WLG’s Waterloo Region office, where she leads the advocacy group and oversees the firm’s national litigation efforts in product liability. Her extensive commercial litigation practice encompasses various areas including product liability, commercial and banking litigation, shareholder and partnership disputes, negligence actions, construction liens, leasing disputes, and title insurance.

She is renowned for her adept defense in general insurance matters involving third-party property damage, wrap-up, construction, and transportation issues. Jacqueline brings a wealth of experience representing insurance companies, insureds, manufacturers, retailers, and self-insured entities. Additionally, she collaborates with public and private corporations and partnerships throughout Canada and the US.

Jacqueline has earned the privilege of appearing before all levels of Ontario courts, including the Court of Appeal, enhancing her outstanding legal acumen. Her exceptional skills have been acknowledged through numerous accolades, such as the 2019 Coulter A. Osborne Award from the Waterloo Law Association.
