Peter L. Rubin is a highly respected partner at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, specializing in restructuring and insolvency law. With a distinguished commercial litigation practice, Peter has extensive expertise in contractual disputes, tax appeals, tort claims, shareholder and securities litigation, as well as equitable remedies involving fiduciary duties and creditors’ rights. His restructuring and insolvency practice includes advising debtor companies, lenders and syndicates, independent committees, secured and unsecured creditors, purchasers of distressed assets, debtor-in-possession lenders, and other parties impacted by business insolvency concerns.

Peter has acted as independent counsel for monitors in major reorganization cases, as well as for receivers and trustees in bankruptcy proceedings. He is recognized for his frequent appearances at all levels of court in British Columbia, multiple stints before the Supreme Court of Canada, and representation before superior and appellate courts in several provinces. Notably, Peter has served as lead debtor’s counsel in some of Canada’s most complex CCAA cases, including Carillion Construction (Ontario), Dominion Diamonds (Alberta), and Trevali Mining (British Columbia).

Peter L. Rubin is a proud member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada and actively contributes to the B.C. Supreme Court Model Order Committee. He holds both a BComm (Honours) and an LLB (Honours) and has been an integral part of the Blakes team since 1999.
