Alfred Kwinter is a distinguished civil litigator and co-founder of an esteemed law firm established with Morris Singer in 1974. A graduate of the University of Toronto’s JD program in 1970, Alf has demonstrated unparalleled expertise, having appeared before all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He famously represented the successful plaintiff in the landmark case of Oldfield v. Transamerica Insurance.
Renowned for his remarkable advocacy skills, Alf has won some of Canada’s largest jury awards for punitive damages against insurers. He has played a crucial role in shaping Canadian personal injury law, notably in cases like Kamin v. Kawartha Dairy, which eased the burden on plaintiffs in slip and fall claims, and Degennaro v. Certified as a Specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Ontario, Alf has been a director of The Advocates’ Society and the Medico-Legal Society. He is an active member of OTLA, TAS, the CBA, the ABA, and the AAJ. As an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall, Alf is celebrated for his dedication to teaching and mentorship.
