Alan M. Minsky, KC, is Counsel to the firm and co-founder of Koskie Minsky LLP. With over 50 years of experience, Alan has built a distinguished career representing trade unions and professional associations. He has appeared extensively before labour relations and employment law tribunals, as well as in courts, providing expert advocacy across a wide range of labour and employment matters.
Alan has lectured and written extensively on labour and employment law, including employee benefits, and has contributed to numerous professional and continuing legal education programs. A significant focus of his practice has been construction labour relations, where he has represented building trades unions in collective bargaining, legal proceedings, and consultations with government on legislative reforms. He has also worked closely with provincial and local building trades councils to shape policy and advocacy strategies.
Alan has served in key leadership roles, including Secretary, Treasurer, and Chair of the Labour Section of the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario), as well as Vice Chair of the Labour Law Specialty Committee for the Law Society’s specialist certification program. A gold medal graduate of the Bar Admission Course, Alan earned his BA and LLB from the University of Toronto and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1971.
In 2009, Alan was elected as a Fellow of the prestigious College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and chaired the Canadian Credentials Committee, further solidifying his legacy as a leader in labour and employment law. His commitment to advancing the field and his decades of service make him a cornerstone of the profession.
