Claire Hunter, KC is an accomplished litigator with extensive experience in civil litigation, public and administrative law, and appellate practice. She is adept at representing clients across all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada. Claire handles complex commercial cases, class actions, and high-profile constitutional trials and appeals. Her expertise is recognized by major legal guides where she is cited as a leading lawyer in commercial litigation and public law.

Claire’s accolades include being named a Lexpert Leading Lawyer Under 40 in 2017 and a Gold Winner for Woman of the Year at Lexpert’s Canadian Law Awards in 2020. Her legal journey includes tenure with Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, following an academic progression through McGill, Stanford, and the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. She served as a law clerk to Justice Iacobucci of the Supreme Court of Canada before launching her practice in New York.

She has been a member of the New York State bar since 2004 and joined the British Columbia bar in 2010. Claire is committed to legal advocacy beyond her practice; she is a governor of the Law Foundation of British Columbia and a former chair of Access Pro Bono. Her contributions to pro bono work have earned her multiple awards. She was appointed King’s Counsel in 2018 and inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2022.
