Cynthia Elderkin is the managing partner of Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office. A member of the Business Law Group, Cyndy offers extensive expertise in transaction-based practices including personal property security matters, secured financings, outsourcings, acquisitions, equipment leases, and more. Her role extends to dealer and distribution agreements, joint ventures, teaming arrangements, P3 and procurement/project arrangements, as well as manufacturing and supply agreements.

Her practice also encompasses general corporate and commercial law with specific attention to commercial and consumer contracts. Cyndy holds substantial industry experience in sectors such as transportation, aviation, fibre optics manufacturing, and infrastructure.

She has served a diverse clientele ranging from individuals and small organizations to not-for-profits, private and public companies, and various national and international firms. As the lead lawyer, Cyndy has facilitated numerous sophisticated national and cross-border transactions. Additionally, she is a co-author of Behind and Beyond Boilerplate: Drafting Commercial Agreements, 5th Edition (Thomson Reuters).

Her community involvement includes serving as a director of the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre for five years. Recognition for her work is evident through listings in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, The Best Lawyers in Canada, and the Legal 500 Canada.
