Daniel Bornstein is a distinguished partner within the Business Law Group at McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Toronto. With a robust legal practice that specializes in project development for the mining and energy sectors, Dan is a trusted expert in Aboriginal law, reconciliation and Indigenous legal issues, and environmental law. He offers invaluable advice to both domestic and international firms on matters of permitting, environmental law, sustainability strategies, stakeholder agreements, and commercial agreements critical to project development.
Renowned for his knowledge, Dan has delivered lectures on Aboriginal law, Indigenous legal issues, environmental laws, and construction law matters. He has also spearheaded a comprehensive seminar focused on impact benefit agreements at the Natural Resources Forum in Prince George, BC.
Before returning to McCarthy Tétrault LLP in 2017, Dan held significant roles in the Environmental Department of a leading international mining corporation. His educational background includes a BA (Hons) from the University of Toronto (1999), an MA in Medieval Studies from Fordham University in New York (2001), and a JD from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto (2004).
