Deborah Templer is one of Canada’s leading commercial and product liability litigators, with a national practice defending clients in multi-jurisdictional commercial, product liability, and mass tort actions. Her recent significant mandates include acting for Philip Morris International, Rothmans Benson & Hedges, Endo Pharmaceuticals, Paladin Labs, JUUL Labs, and Behr Process Corporation in defence of product liability actions, including multibillion-dollar class actions and health-care cost recovery litigation in the long-running Canadian tobacco and opioid litigation. She has also acted for Bell Canada for much of her career in respect of commercial disputes and is frequently retained to represent clients in respect of shareholder and oppression claims. Deborah has appeared in courts across Canada, including in Courts of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, and in the Federal Court.

She is a regular instructor on trial advocacy for The Advocates’ Society, Osgoode Hall Law School’s Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop, Toronto Metropolitan University’s LPP Trial Advocacy program, and is a sessional instructor for the University of Windsor Faculty of Law. Deborah is a director of Pro Bono Ontario and co-chair of a Class Actions Sub-Committee of the American Bar Association.
