Don Eady’s practice encompasses union-side labour, employment, human rights and administrative law, judicial review, and government relations. With extensive expertise across all facets of labour relations, collective bargaining, employment and human rights law, pension and benefits law, occupational health and safety, and workers’ compensation, Don has a vast legal background. He has successfully appeared before numerous administrative tribunals and trial and appellate courts throughout Ontario.
From 1991 to 1994, Don served as Special Assistant to the Ontario Ministry of Labour. Notable roles include acting as counsel to the Ontario Public Service Employees Union during the Walkerton Inquiry and co-authoring Ontario Public Sector Employment & Labour Law (2005, Irwin Law). He also represents the Canadian Football League Players’ Association. Recently, Don represented a group challenging Ontario’s municipal ward boundary changes during an election campaign.
An engaged participant at legal conferences, Don speaks on topics such as human rights law, picketing injunctions, and construction labour relations. He is an esteemed member of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers and The Advocates’ Society and has been recognized by Chambers Canada 2019 for Employment & Labour – Labour for Unions. Additionally, Don has consistently been ranked by Lexpert since 2009.
