Dorothy Charach is a partner in McCarthy Tétrault LLP’s Litigation Group in Toronto, specializing in commercial litigation, professional liability, product liability, class actions, and defamation. She has an extensive record of representing clients in court, including all levels of court in Ontario and before the Ontario Health Professions Appeal and Review Board.

With significant trial experience, Dorothy has successfully represented multiple physicians in professional liability cases, demonstrating her aptitude in both jury and non-jury trials. As lead counsel at trial and appellate levels, she frequently acts for defendants in class action cases. Her notable clients include pharmaceutical and medical device companies, food and beverage companies, and financial institutions.

Dorothy is co-leader of McCarthy Tétrault LLP’s Health Industry Group and shares her expertise through teaching positions. She teaches medical malpractice at Queen’s University Faculty of Law and Trial Advocacy at Osgoode Hall Law School, and guest lectures at the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Professional Development programs, focusing on medical negligence.

She is a graduate of Western University (BA Hons) and Osgoode Hall Law School (JD) and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2012.
