He expertly represents clients in high-stakes cases involving mergers, criminal and civil investigations, and the defense of alleged anti-competitive behavior. With a history of acting both for and against Canada’s Competition Bureau, Emrys played a pivotal role as trial counsel in the Commissioner of Competition’s successful abuse of dominance case against the Toronto Real Estate Board.

Emrys has a robust practice in complex national class actions, dealing with industries such as auto parts, audiobooks, lithium-ion batteries, compressors, and more. His notable work includes acting in influential price-fixing class actions like the Godfrey v. Toshiba case, a landmark Supreme Court of Canada decision in 2019 that set important precedents under Canada’s Competition Act.

An active member of the legal community, Emrys is involved with the Ontario Bar Associations’ Bench-Bar Committee on Class Actions, is the past-Chair of the Competition Litigation Committee of the Canadian Bar Association’s Competition Law Section, and serves on the editorial board of the International Bar Association’s Competition Law International.
