François D. Gagnon is a leading partner in BLG’s Financial Services Group and a key member of the Insolvency and Financial Restructuring Group. He provides strategic advice to a range of stakeholders navigating restructurings under the Companies Creditors’ Arrangement Act, as well as restructurings and liquidations under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.

With a wealth of experience in commercial litigation, François has represented clients at all judicial bodies in Québec, including the Québec Court of Appeal, as well as administrative and arbitration tribunals. His expertise extends to making representations on motions for leave to appeal before the Supreme Court of Canada.

Recognized as a Rising Star in restructuring & insolvency, financial restructuring by IFLR1000 – The Guide to the World’s Leading Financial Law Firms, François is also listed in the 2022 edition (and since 2019) of The Best Lawyers in Canada for Insolvency & Financial Restructuring.
