Geoff Shaw is a partner with significant experience in the resolution of franchise law disputes through trial, appeal, mediation, or arbitration. He has been lead counsel on a number of important decisions and is regularly retained to defend franchisors in class actions. Geoff is a frequent speaker at international franchise law seminars and contributes as an author to a number of industry publications.

He is an active member of the Canadian Franchise Association (Government Relations Committee) and a twice past member of the Legal Symposium Task Force of the International Franchise Association. Geoff is a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising and The Advocates’ Society.

Recognized as a leading lawyer in the Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Corporate Lawyers in Canada, Chambers Canada, The Best Lawyers in Canada, and Who’s Who Legal, Geoff was named a Legal Eagle in Franchise Times (2014–2021). He also holds an LLM in ADR and formerly taught franchise law at Queen’s University Law School. Called to the Ontario Bar in 1986.
