Helen R. Ward is the co-leader of the Estates Solutions Practice Group with substantial experience in litigation stemming from wills, estate-related claims, mental capacity issues, and dependents’ relief. Her expertise extends to drafting essential documents such as wills, enduring powers of attorney, and personal directives. Helen offers guidance to executors and provides expert advice on probate, administration of estates, and prevailing issues concerning mental incapacity in adults.

With a commendable court presence, Helen has navigated contested wills trials and dependants’ relief trials, representing both individual clients and corporate trustees. Her contributions to legal education are noteworthy, having lectured at the University of Alberta Law School and delivered sessions for the Legal Education Society of Alberta (LESA) and the Canadian Bar Association (CBA).

Actively involved in the legal community, Helen is a member of the Alberta Surrogate Rules Advisory Committee and assists with the Senior Practitioners’ Estate Planning and Litigation Forum at Langdon Hall. As a recognized leader in her field, she has served as chairperson for both the CBA Wills and Estates Subsection and the Elder Law Subsection, and participated as a panelist on capacity issues at the CBA National Elder Law meeting.
