Ian Mondrow is a distinguished member of the Energy Sector Group and spearheads Gowling WLG’s Energy Regulation and Policy practice in the firm’s Toronto office. With extensive experience, he advocates for electricity generators, transmitters, and distributors, as well as natural gas shippers, competitive energy services providers, and large consumers of electricity and natural gas before both provincial and federal regulatory forums.

Ian offers expert guidance to government agencies and non-government organizations on energy policy, sector design, and legislation across numerous national and international jurisdictions. His specialties include energy policy and legislation, regulatory policy and processes, rates and tariffs, construction permissions, as well as compliance and licensing matters.

Before joining Gowling WLG, Ian was a special advisor to the Chair of the Ontario Energy Board and served as Vice President for Government and Regulatory Affairs at a prominent integrated competitive energy services company. His excellence has been acknowledged by prestigious directories such as Chambers Global, Chambers Canada, The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, and The Legal 500 Canada.
