Joel is a partner with Harper Grey, where he maintains a general litigation practice. He represents clients in a broad range of civil and administrative law matters at the trial and appellate levels, as well as before administrative tribunals. Joel’s expertise spans professional liability, commercial litigation—including multi-party cases and class actions—and administrative law.

In his medical negligence practice, Joel has acted for defendants in cases involving negligence, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and intentional torts. He has represented defendants in various capacities, including trials (both judge-alone and jury), appeals, and class actions.

Beyond his litigation work, Joel serves as an Adjunct Professor at UBC, Allard School of Law, where he teaches an upper-year course on “Ethics and Professionalism.” Committed to community service, he provides pro bono counsel in civil and administrative law matters, coordinates Harper Grey’s participation in the LSLAP (Law Students’ Legal Advice Program), and volunteers as a supervising lawyer with LSLAP.

Joel was called to the BC Bar in 2012, marking the start of a prominent legal career characterized by dedication to client representation and education.
