John M. Alati

John is a co-managing partner who specializes in land use planning and land development. With a broad practice encompassing both private and public sector clients across the GTA and Ontario, he provides expert guidance on intricate planning and development law matters. John’s expertise includes securing approvals for innovative seniors’ developments, zoning for high-rise condominiums, site planning approvals, and large greenfield subdivisions.

Regularly appearing before Municipal City Councils, their subcommittees, and the Ontario Land Tribunal, John also advocates for his clients before the Divisional Court, Environmental Review Tribunal, Ontario Energy Board, and other administrative tribunals. He is a renowned speaker, having presented on land use planning and development at the Ontario Bar Association and seminars hosted by the Law Society of Upper Canada.

As the Past Chair of the Municipal Section of the Ontario Bar Association, John remains actively involved in the community. His service includes roles on the Etobicoke Committee of Adjustment, the Toronto Hydro-Electric Commission, and as a former Chair of the Etobicoke Hydro Commission. Additionally, John was a board member for Kingsway College School in Toronto.
