Jon is a partner in Dentons’ Commercial Real Estate and Development group. Based in Calgary, he has extensive experience in municipal planning and development, residential and industrial development, land use, leasing, as well as commercial, industrial, and office transactions. He regularly appears before the Calgary Planning Commission, Calgary City Council, and the Subdivision and Appeal Board (SDAB) on behalf of his prestigious clients, who include local and national developers of large residential, commercial, and retail projects.

Jon has a deep understanding of the intricacies involved at every stage of real estate development, from land-use approvals and risk avoidance through to construction and lease-up. His entrepreneurial nature and strong negotiating skills ensure he delivers a practical approach to his clients’ real estate matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Jon served as Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel with one of Alberta’s largest real estate developers, where he managed real estate transactions in excess of CA$500 million and advised various business groups on operational and legal matters ranging from investor communications to sophisticated contract negotiations. Jon also acts as a strategic advisor to several family-owned developers in Alberta.
