In 1991, I transitioned from a partnership at a major Edmonton law firm to join Weir Bowen, collaborating closely with John Weir, KC, one of Alberta’s prominent medical malpractice lawyers. At Weir Bowen, my legal practice centers on advocating for individuals who have suffered harm or wrongful death due to medical negligence.

Over the years, my focus has expanded to include representing children, notably handling cases for infants with brain injuries stemming from oxygen deprivation during labor and delivery, hypoglycemia, infections, or premature birth. I have successfully represented infants who sustained traumatic brain injuries due to forceps or vacuum extraction during delivery, and those injured from mismanaged shoulder dystocia.

The primary goal of obstetrical and neonatal litigation in my practice is to secure the necessary funds for the injured child to receive essential treatments and ensure their path to independent adult living. My prosecution of settlements and trial awards includes the largest injury settlements in Alberta’s history and the highest personal injury trial decision in the province.

In 2016, alongside several Canadian peers, I co-founded the Birth Injury Lawyers Alliance. This alliance is the largest collective of birth trauma lawyers in Canada, committed to representing children who endure injuries at birth or as newborns.
