Justin Safayeni is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on administrative and public law, media/defamation law, and commercial litigation and appeals. In his public law practice, he represents clients in judicial reviews, statutory appeals, and hearings before a wide variety of tribunals, and serves as independent legal counsel to a number of regulators. He acts for both plaintiffs and defendants in defamation cases and anti-SLAPP motions, having represented interveners before the Supreme Court on two major anti-SLAPP appeals.

In addition, Justin Safayeni assists parties in accessing court documents, making access to information requests and providing pre-publication advice to minimize defamation and privacy law liability and risk. His commercial litigation practice involves representing clients in contract and shareholder disputes, oppression remedy cases, employment law matters, commercial fraud cases, and a broad spectrum of other commercial disputes.

Having served as a law clerk to Justices Laskin, Goudge, and MacFarland at the Court of Appeal for Ontario, Justin brings a profound depth of legal acumen. He also teaches administrative law and is the co-editor of the firm’s administrative law newsletter. His insights are frequently published in academic, industry, and mainstream publications.
