Lawrence A. Elliot is the BLG Ottawa’s regional managing partner and a distinguished member of the National Management Committee. A seasoned civil litigator, Larry offers extensive expertise across numerous civil litigation domains, with a pronounced focus on insurance and personal injury law, product recalls and regulatory matters, product liability, stockbroker negligence, access to information, commercial litigation, and administrative law. Lawrence has successfully represented clients in all courts throughout Ontario and the Federal Court of Canada.
Serving as the national leader of BLG’s Insurance and Tort Law Group from 2010 to 2020, he was also the regional coordinator of the BLG Product Liability Professional Group and Securities Litigation Focus Group. His leadership roles have included positions as a former member of BLG’s Partnership Board and the leader of BLG’s Ottawa Litigation Department (2005–2010).
Lawrence’s exceptional legal expertise has earned him recognition in the 2023 edition (and since 2010) of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the fields of Insurance Law and Personal Injury Litigation. Notably, he was acclaimed as the “Insurance Litigator of the Year” by Benchmark Canada in 2018.
