Mary Anne Aldred is a strategic advisor in Norton Rose Fulbright’s litigation and disputes group and energy regulatory practice. Based in Toronto, she offers strategic guidance to clients in the energy sector across Ontario. With over 25 years of experience, Mary Anne is a seasoned expert in energy law. Before retiring in April 2021, she was the chief operating officer and general counsel at the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), where she managed the organization’s corporate operations, provided legal and strategic leadership, and liaised with the government on energy issues.

Mary Anne joined the OEB as general counsel in 2006, advancing to vice president of strategic policy in 2015, and later to chief operating officer and general counsel in 2017. Her career also includes over 12 years with Hydro One and the former Ontario Hydro as a lawyer and regulatory affairs advisor, where she held roles such as assistant general counsel and director of transmission regulation.
