Certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Labour Law, Matthew L.O. Certosimo is a distinguished partner and former national leader (2011–2016) of BLG’s Labour and Employment Group. With a strong presence in the courts, including at the appellate level, he provides expert counsel and representation for private and public sector employers in areas including labour relations, employment law, wrongful dismissal litigation, labour arbitrations, collective bargaining, human rights complaints, and charges under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Matthew is the co-author of “Just Cause: The Law of Summary Dismissal in Canada” and serves as the assistant editor for “Canadian Cases on Employment Law,” a national law report series. He is also the author of “Ontario Employment and Labour Law & Commentary” and “Federal Employment and Labour Law & Commentary,” as well as “The Regulation of Picketing: An Employer’s Primer to Labour Injunctions.”

His expertise is recognized in Chambers Canada, The Best Lawyers in Canada, and The Legal 500 Canada. As a noted chair and speaker at numerous labour and employment law conferences, Matthew also served as an Adjunct Professor of Employment Law at the University of Toronto from 1996 to 2011.
