Maya Stano is a Vancouver-based partner whose practice focuses on environmental, Indigenous, natural resource, and construction law. As a member of several practice groups and the firm’s Hydrogen and ESG leadership teams, Maya delivers expert advice and representation on various matters. These include environmental impact assessments, land rights, permitting, natural resource development, major infrastructure projects, regulatory compliance, and ESG.

Her comprehensive services support projects from early planning and tenure applications through to construction, operations, and final closure, decommissioning, and reclamation. Maya represents the interests of both private companies and Indigenous Nations in industries such as tourism, mining, forestry, energy, oil and gas, and nuclear. She is skilled in facilitating agreement negotiations between Indigenous Nations, provincial and federal governments, and proponents in natural resource projects and other activities.

In addition to her legal practice, Maya assists Indigenous Nations with government-related issues, including drafting laws and bylaws, managing land use and rights on reserve, and navigating land codes and governance matters. Prior to her legal career, Maya gained valuable experience working as a professional geological engineer.
