Michael Dery is a Partner and the leader of Alexander Holburn’s Aviation practice. He represents aviation insurers, airlines, operators, flight schools, UAV operators, AMOs, and FBOs in complex litigation and regulatory matters. He provides counsel and advice to clients on litigation arising out of aircraft accidents, aviation-related product liability litigation, class actions, airline claims, human rights matters, and various other transportation-related issues.

Michael has successfully appeared for clients before the courts of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, the Northwest Territories, and the Federal Court of Canada. He has also represented clients in front of the Canadian Transportation Agency, the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada, and the Canadian Human Rights Commission. His distinguished work has earned him recognition by peers, including inclusion in The Best Lawyers in Canada in Aviation Law (since 2020), Who’s Who Legal (Transport — Aviation Contentious Global Leader 2023 and Canada Transport — Aviation National Leader 2022), and Guide to the World’s Leading Aviation Lawyers (since 2013).
