Michael Lubetsky is a senior partner in McMillan’s Toronto office, where he leads the firm’s national tax litigation practice. He has successfully represented clients in a wide range of federal and provincial tax matters. He also has extensive experience in civil litigation matters, including acting in constitutional cases, commercial disputes, class actions, judicial reviews, securities commission cases, and international arbitrations.

Called to the bars of both Ontario and Quebec, Michael Lubetsky has appeared and argued before all levels of court across Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has authored articles on a diverse range of legal subjects that have been cited by the Supreme Court of Canada and the federal, Quebec, and BC courts of appeal. His unique perspectives on international business matters are enhanced by his experiences as a researcher in Japan and an officer in the Canadian Foreign Service in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and China. Fluent in French and English, he also has some proficiency in several other languages, including Japanese, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.
