Michael Mazzuca is the managing partner at Koskie Minsky and counsel at Koskie Glavin Gordon in Vancouver, BC. He represents boards of trustees, pension committees, and other administrators of pension and benefit plans, including multi-employer and jointly governed plans. Michael also works with trade unions and plan member groups across Canada. His legal expertise includes providing advice on plan administration, fiduciary duties, and governance.

Michael has a robust court presence, representing clients before all levels of court across Canada, often in class actions involving pensions and employee benefit plans. His cases typically address funding issues, fiduciary duties, and pension fund investments. He also advocates for clients before pension regulators and tribunals on matters concerning statutory and regulatory compliance, including plan wind-ups, mergers, plan amendments, and funding requirements.

Michael’s professional background includes teaching as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law. He has served as Vice-President of the Multi-Employer Benefit Council of Canada and is a member of the Multi Employer Pension Plans Technical Advisory Committee of the FSRA of Ontario. His leadership roles extend to past chair of the CBA’s National Pension and Benefits Section and past chair of the Legal Advisory Committee of the Ontario FST. He also instructs for the IF Masters Trustee Management Standards Program.

Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in 1987 and his Juris Doctor in 1990. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1992 and the BC Bar in 2013.
