Michael is a partner in the BLG Vancouver office, specializing in corporate and securities law with a strong focus on corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, investment fund management, and corporate governance. He expertly advises acquirers and targets in both friendly and hostile takeover bids and other business combinations.

Michael represents public and private issuers, underwriters, venture capital firms, and institutional investors in various financing transactions. These include initial public offerings, secondary offerings, private placements, royalty and streaming transactions, and preferred share investments.

He also provides counsel to Canadian and international investment funds, hedge funds, and investment fund managers. As an adjunct professor, he shares his knowledge of Securities Regulation at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law.

Michael is one of the founders of BLG’s Startup & Grow initiative, which offers legal solutions tailored to entrepreneurs, startups, and early-stage companies, particularly in the technology sector. He possesses considerable expertise in the mining sector as well.

Michael has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada for his work in Mergers and Acquisitions Law and Venture Capital Law, even earning the title of Venture Capital Law Lawyer of the Year in Vancouver.

Education: LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2008.
