Practising banking and commercial law at the firm’s Montreal office, Michel Deschamps boasts extensive expertise in a multitude of legal areas. Michel is also deeply involved in consumer protection legislation and the regulation of financial institutions.

Michel’s commitment to law reform is evident through his active participation in projects by esteemed organizations like the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law and the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law. Furthermore, he is an active participant in the Uniform Law Conference of Canada.

An accomplished author, Michel has contributed extensively to law reviews and books. He serves as an Associate Professor of banking law at Université de Montréal’s Law Faculty and is a sought-after speaker at conferences both in Canada and internationally, covering topics related to his field.

Michel holds key positions, such as Chair of the Quebec Bar Law Review and the Secured Transactions Committee of the Quebec Bar. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and a member of the Quebec Bar, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Legal Advisory Panel of the Aviation Working Group.
