Mouna Hanna leads the firm’s Cyber, Privacy and Data Protection Group and is renowned for her expertise in matters involving cybersecurity incidents, privacy breaches, professional negligence, and complex bodily injury. Representing both private and public sector clients, Mouna has developed a strong reputation for her in-depth knowledge and dynamic approach to legal challenges in the field of privacy and data protection.

Designated as a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), Mouna also holds a Certificate in Privacy Law and Cybersecurity from Osgoode. She routinely serves as a breach coach and defence counsel in claims related to ransomware, email breaches, data security, data loss, and wire fraud.

Mouna provides strategic and practical advice to clients regarding compliance with Canada’s Federal and Provincial privacy laws. She excels at guiding organizations through the complexities of developing and updating incident response plans to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory compliance.

With significant litigation experience, Mouna is adept at representing lawyers, IT service providers, data controllers, and other professionals in third-party litigation arising from data breaches and cyber incidents. She also has a proven track record of initiating litigation to trace and recover lost funds resulting from social engineering attacks.

Mouna’s achievements are recognized within the legal community. In 2021, she was named a “Leading Lawyer to Watch” by Lexpert and received the Richard B. Lindsay QC Exceptional Young Lawyer Award from CDL, underscoring her prominence and dedication to her practice areas.
