Naiomi Metallic stands at the forefront of Aboriginal Law in Canada. As a proud member of the Listuguj Mi’gmaq First Nation, she brings deep expertise to her clients, forged through a comprehensive legal education that includes a BA and LLB from Dalhousie, a civil law degree from the University of Ottawa, and a master’s of law from Osgoode Hall, with a PhD in progress from the University of Alberta. Naiomi is recognized for her contributions to key cases before courts in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, the Federal courts, and even the Supreme Court of Canada. She is dedicated to supporting First Nations in governance, employment, and human rights matters.

In addition to her celebrated litigation practice, Naiomi is a full-time faculty member at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, where she holds the Chancellor’s Chair in Aboriginal Law and Policy. She is a passionate educator in Constitutional Law, Aboriginal Law, and Indigenous Governance, and an innovative legal scholar focused on harnessing law to enhance the well-being and self-determination of Indigenous peoples across Canada.
