Peter is a partner who practises in the area of restructuring and insolvency law at Blakes. His commercial litigation practice has focused on contractual disputes, tax appeals, tort claims, shareholder and securities litigation, equitable remedies, including fiduciary duties and creditors’ rights. Peter’s R&I practice involves advising debtor companies, lenders and lending syndicates, independent committee’s, secured and unsecured creditors, purchasers of distressed assets, debtor-in-possession lenders, and other parties affected by business insolvency issues. He has acted as independent counsel for monitors in reorganization cases, receivers and trustees in bankruptcy. In addition to appearing frequently in all levels of Court in British Columbia, Peter has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada on multiple occasions, as well as numerous superior and appellate courts in other provinces. He has been lead debtor’s counsel in some of Canada’s largest and most complicated CCAA cases including Carillion Construction (Ontario), Dominion Diamonds (Alberta) and Trevali Mining (British Columbia). Peter is a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada and the B.C. Supreme Court Model Order Committee. Career: BComm (Honours); LLB (Honours); joined Blakes in 1999.
