Since obtaining his Doctor of Laws degree, has become one of Canada’s foremost authorities on natural resources, energy, and environment law. Has worked on important, varied files relating to the acquisition, development, and exploitation of natural resources (mining deposits) at all stages (prospecting, exploration, development, pre-production, and operation); rehabilitation and restoration of mining sites; negotiation and drafting of impact and benefits agreements with Native communities; preparation and implementation of environmental management systems; and reviewing environmental compliance. Participated in preparation of laws and regulations implementing land, mining, resource, and environmental regimes provided for in the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement settling Native claims in Northern Quebec. Quebec Bar, 1968. Lecturer of mining law in the Master of Business Law program, Faculty of Law of University of Montreal, 2007–2019. Rated since 2006, and named 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2024 Lawyer of the Year, Montreal, natural resources, mining and Aboriginal in The Best Lawyers in Canada.
