Sara Mainville is the managing partner of JFK Law and a respected Canadian legal expert known for her profound dedication to Indigenous law and sovereignty. Called to the Ontario Bar in 2005, Sara holds a Management degree (University of Lethbridge), an LLB (Queen’s University), and an LLM (University of Toronto). Her lifelong academic and practical pursuits have centred on Indigenous jurisdictions and their significant role in reconciling sovereignty within Canada’s legal framework.

With extensive experience as a solo practitioner, legal educator, and former Associate at a prominent Anishinaabe-led law firm, Sara brings a unique perspective grounded in Indigenous legal traditions. In 2014, she was elected Chief of Couchiching First Nation, where she advanced Indigenous rights and governance before returning to her legal practice in 2016.

Sara Mainville’s commitment to empowering First Nations is evident in her work on cannabis, gaming, and tobacco legal matters with communities across Canada. Notably, she contributed to the negotiations establishing the landmark First Nation Sovereign Wealth LP, benefiting 129 First Nations in Ontario through significant investment and ownership in Hydro One.
