Sonia L. Bjorkquist is the Chair of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP’s National Litigation Department and is a past president of The Advocates’ Society. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, Sonia has established herself as a leading legal expert in Canada, specializing in complex commercial litigation, class actions, product liability defence, and arbitration.

Sonia provides strategic counsel to companies facing significant litigation risk, including class actions and multi-jurisdictional cases. She is recognized for her expertise in defending challenging product liability claims across diverse industries, as well as for her work in critical business disputes involving commercial agreements, banking, construction and infrastructure, and data and privacy law. Sonia’s practice also extends to high-stakes issues concerning directors’ duties and shareholder rights and remedies.

Her contributions to the legal field have been recognized at the national level, having been chosen by the Government of Canada as a delegate to the CUSMA Advisory Committee on Private Commercial Disputes under USMCA Article 31.22, and she also served on the predecessor NAFTA 2022 Advisory Committee.
