About Tamara R. Napoleon:
Tamara R. Napoleon is a member of Saulteau First Nations and is among a select group of Indigenous female solicitors in Canada. As Principal and co-leader of the Indigenous Law Group at MT+Co., Tamara has earned recognition as a trusted advisor on matters involving Indigenous title implementation, jurisdiction, legal orders, and consent-based decision-making within government-to-government frameworks.
She provides careful guidance to help clients navigate sustainable resource development and equitable revenue sharing for projects and industries located within their territories. Tamara also supports clients during negotiations, offers counsel on UNDRIP implementation, and diligently analyzes the legal responsibilities that emerge from the use of natural resources.
In addition, Tamara assists Nations in maximizing their commercial footprint, advising on commercial acquisitions and the legal structures necessary to achieve economic prosperity. Her expertise in Indigenous law empowers clients to advance their interests and meet the highest standards of legal and ethical integrity.
An active volunteer and community leader, Tamara contributes her expertise to several boards, including the BC Cancer Foundation, the Victoria Foundation, and her Nation’s economic development entity, the Mistahiya Group of Companies. She serves as a director of the Vancouver Native Health Society, is Governor of the Justice Institute of BC, and is a former Vice President of the Aboriginal Mothers Centre Society.
In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Tamara was named a Lexpert Rising Star: Leading Lawyer Under 40 in Canada in 2020.
