Ted Betts is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Toronto office and serves as the head of the firm’s infrastructure and construction sector group, as well as co-head of its transportation and mobility sector group. Certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a specialist in construction law, Ted Betts offers comprehensive legal expertise in all aspects of tendering, negotiation, and drafting of construction contracts, project management, construction financing, and commercial contracting. His legal practice is centred on large-scale construction, infrastructure, and development projects across sectors like power generation, transportation, real estate development, city-building initiatives, and public-private partnerships (P3s).

Ted Betts represents a broad client base, including owners, contractors, consultants, procurement agencies, ministries, municipalities, and various public sector organizations. He has substantial experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts and project delivery structures, such as construction management agreements, design-build, EPC/EPCM, consulting agreements, progressive design-build, and integrated project delivery contracts. His role includes overseeing the delivery of critical project documents, ensuring regulatory and governmental approvals, structuring projects and partnerships, planning for occupational health and safety, and providing sound insurance guidance.
