Tim Watson is a partner at Sequoia Legal LLP who previously worked as a consultant specializing in First Nations governance, specific claims research, negotiations and economic development. Tim now works exclusively with Indigenous communities and tribal councils across Canada advising on issues such as band governance, Aboriginal and Treaty rights, land protections, consultation, natural resource management, economic development, impact benefit agreements, revenue sharing, and consultation. His work includes negotiation and structuring of Indigenous-owned joint ventures in sectors such as forestry, civil construction, environmental, electrical, fabrication, and helicopter companies, as well as assisting in the establishment of Indigenous-owned businesses, including gas stations and cannabis retail stores. Tim negotiates multi-party agreements on behalf of Indigenous clients including government-to-government agreements, IBAs with industry proponents, and specific claims settlements. He provides legal advice on the preparation of laws, policies & governance structures. He is called to the Bar in British Columbia and the NWT.
